Balancing Life at tennessee

Fall semester is in full swing! Between keeping up with academics, cheering for the Vols on Saturdays, or attending your chapter’s events, it can be hard to find a balance. Here are some tips on how to prioritize school, while still finding the time to enjoy all that Rocky Top and the Panhellenic Community has to offer.

PRIORITIZE Academics

At the end of the day, we are here at the University of Tennessee to get an education. Using a planner or a digital calendar is a great way to stay organized and on top of your schoolwork throughout the semester! The Academic Success Center is a great place to start if you need some academic support. They have plenty of resources from study sessions to academic planning. Use your chapter resources too, such as group chats with people in your major, study hours, etc.!

lean on your friends

One of the best parts of the Panhellenic community is that you are constantly surrounded by women wanting to support you! Talk with your friends if you are feeling overwhelmed and need to vent, find someone from your chapter to be your study buddy for a specific class, or even go on a walk with a friend if you need a brain break!

Get involved beyond your chapter

It’s easy to focus solely on getting involved in your organization, but Tennessee has so many other ways to get involved! Whether it’s joining a club for your major, serving on SGA as an ambassador, or playing intramural sports, Tennessee has plenty of opportunities for you to get involved beyond your chapter.

Remember to rest and recharge

And last but certainly not least, remember to rest and recharge. Sometimes it can be hard to find the time to just unwind and do something for yourself, but it's important to prioritize your mental health every day! Set aside a time throughout the day that is just for you! Take a nap, watch your comfort show, read a book – it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you are taking the time to do something for yourself!

At the end of the day, balance looks different for everyone! No matter what, being a Panhellenic woman at Tennessee means that you have a community to lean on, opportunities to grow, and memories to make. Embrace the busy days, enjoy the small moments, and remember that you're exactly where you need to be!
